Steven is a partner and co-founder of Independent Appraisal Corp.  He started his Real Estate career in Sudbury, Ontario in 1995 as an appraiser and real estate agent at his family’s full service real estate firm. In 2000, Steven co-founded Independent Appraisal Corp.  and helped it grow to the very successful firm it is today.  Steven has extensive experience in residential appraisal and consulting services.  He has completed reports for large to small lending institutions, mortgage insurers, lawyers, taxation, government, and various private clients.  He also advises lenders on how to shape their internal appraisal processes.  In 2018, Steven was appointed as the Ontario President of the Appraisal Institute of Canada, in addition to sitting on numerous committees. He is also a member of the Ottawa-Carleton Real Estate Board.  Steven holds the Canadian Residential Appraiser (CRA) designation and has continuously maintained his good standing with the AIC since achieving his designation.

Michel is a partner and co-founder of Independent Appraisal Corp. After finishing high school, Michel enrolled in the real estate appraisal program at St. Lawrence College and in 1988 he became a full-time appraiser with an established expropriation and forensic appraisal company. This experience was instrumental in Michel gaining exposure to a different side of the appraisal industry and in developing skills he still employs today. Michel has over 30 years of appraisal experience and he is often called upon as a guest speaker on appraisal processes for financial institutions and appraisal management companies. Additionally, he mentors candidate members to help them obtain their CRA designation. Michel holds the Canadian Residential Appraiser (CRA) designation and has continuously maintained his good standing with the AIC since achieving his designation. Michel is accepted as an expert witness in Ontario provincial court.

Mark is a partner and co-founder of Independent Appraisal Corp. and has more than 20 years of experience in appraising properties.  Mark grew up working in the family construction business and has worked in every area of residential construction, from labourer to finishing carpenter including project supervisor.  Mark moved to Ottawa in 1988 to attend Carleton University and was also working in commercial construction.  After becoming a member of the Appraisal Institute of Canada in 1991, Mark started his appraisal career assisting in the preparation of commercial appraisals.  In 1993 he decided to focus on residential appraisal and after working at three different established appraisal firms he co-founded Independent Appraisal Corp.  Mark holds the Canadian Residential Appraiser designation (CRA) and continuously maintains his good standing with the Appraisal Institute of Canada.
